Albany, NY (December 29) — After holding a virtual event last night, Sergio Adams launched his campaign to become the next Common Council member for Albany’s Seventh Ward.

Adams, who ran previously in 2017, is back campaigning for the 7th Ward seat. Adams gained a lot of attention and support this year for his efforts in continuing to engage in grassroots community empowerment through holding voter registration events and virtual Covid -19 forums. Sergio is a 7th Ward committee member in the Albany County Democratic Committee. In addition, Adams serves as a board member on the Capital District Transportation Committee, works with Housing For All, and mentors young men through his fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi through their “Guide Right” program.

Adams expressed commitment to bridging the gap between the local government and Albany residents, saying, “Open, honest, and accountable government is what we need, and this can only be achieved when elected leaders are committed to the free and open exchange of information between government and the public. Citizens deserve a leader they can believe in who will be honest, truthful and forthcoming. I am proud to call Albany and the Seventh Ward my home. This is a new beginning for our Ward. We deserve representation that’s progressive and is truly committed to social, economic, and environmental justice. I have the skills and passion needed to bring meaningful changes to the Seventh Ward.”

Over the next few months, Adams will work tirelessly to not only share his vision for the Seventh Ward and Albany, but also listen to the hopes, worries, and ideas of each and every resident in the Ward. Adams’ energy and hands-on experience means that residents will have a clear choice for the Democratic Primary.
